Inspired by Renaissance and Medieval models, these handcrafted recorders are famous for their beauty of sound, expressiveness, precise intonation and reliability. Thanks to a high-level of craftsmanship, musical experience, care and intuition these instruments are timeless and unique.

The tenor recorder is based on an instrument by Schnitzer – the Bassett 1032 in Brussels. A maximum of two bodies per headpiece is possible.

Medieval

These recorders are inspired by iconography from the Middle Ages. They are cylindrical and tuned in Pythagorean temperament. Available pitches: A440, A466, or A520 Hz.

Consort

The consort is based on original instruments by Schnitzer, especially on the bassett in G in Brussels. The recorders are built a fifth apart: bass in C, basset in G, tenor in D and descant in A. Therefore, they are particularly well suited to consort music of the 16th century. They are currently available only in A466 Hz.

Each recorder is unique and special attention is paid to the voicing of every instrument. All the factors that can influence an instrument’s sound are carefully coordinated and finely balanced with each other in the headpiece of the flute.

In this way, each recorder develops its own voice, combining rich harmonics, nuanced response, dynamism and flexibility, to truly inspire the musician who plays it.

About

Monika Musch

After studying recorder and baroque flute to concert level in Germany and the Netherlands, I went to study recorder-making with Ernst Meyer in Switzerland. There I was initiated into his secret art of recorder sound creation.

I am also highly indebted to my irreplaceable colleague Isabel Lehmann, my best friend since adolescence, who not only is an exceptional recorder player but also is an invaluable assistant in the production of my instruments.

My sincere thanks go to all customers and players of my instruments who, with their concerts, recordings, projects and visits, are a constant source of inspiration and motivation.

May your music make our world more beautiful, rich and harmonic, and may your sounds reach the highest spheres!

Hommage

Ernst Meyer

EA special honor belongs to my ingenious, admired and beloved teacher Ernst Meyer (1954-2016). His mastery of craftsmanship, his excellent sense of sound, his sharp focus and eloquent humor are unsurpassed and unforgotten.
